BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) ESSENTIAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
Tree ferns were dominant in the wet, warm forests of the Earth millions of years ago. As the climate changed, trees evolved survival tools to remain on the Earth. Seeds dropped to the dirt to start new trees. On the outside, buried roots join trunks which join limbs. On the inside, water is moved from roots to leaves and sap flows from leaves to roots. Trees are good neighbors, giving us oxygen and using our carbon dioxide, giving shade and homes for all types of animals, insects, and birds.
Illustrations in Trees are vivid, bright, and extremely colorful and will be studied intently by readers. The text is Haiku, very informative and educational. The text matches well with the illustrations. The end of the book has pages and pages of information for further reading and study. Each topic is explained in more detail, as the Haiku is limited by nature, which is very educational and beneficial. Trees is a valuable book, a must-have for elementary libraries.
