BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K, EL (K-3) - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: LOW
Rio Rosie and Little Tex wake up before the sun to start their day. Where is breakfast? Out they go to round up some eggs, but the chickens won’t lay until the light of the day. The sun beats down, baking the land, Rosie and Text round up some rain clouds but the rain won’t stop. After hog tying the storm clouds to take them away, a final boom of lightning and thunder scare the longhorns away. Little Tex and Rio Rosie solve the longhorn stampede and settle into the night after a long adventurous day.
Saddle the Sun is a rhyming Little Golden Book. The illustrations are colorful, and detailed and showcase life on a farm/ranch/range. The rhyming text will engage the younger reader as will the bright illustrations. The text matches well with the illustrations, making it easy to follow. Holland’s problems are a bit far-fetched. The characters are white.
