All Kinds of Special is a sweet story about a small family finding happiness in a new environment by sharing with others. Sauer's message is heartwarming, and Martin's illustrations are colorful, cute and enhance the warm friendly feelings. The author uses the word queendom to describe the family, and the mother and daughter are different races from each other.
