AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
Two sisters awake at midnight to have adventures together while the rest of the house sleeps. They eat Dad's jellybeans, try on Mom's coat, and make shadows on the wall from the glare of the streetlights. The key part of the fun is keeping their "Midnight Club" a secret between sisters.
This is a nice picture book that celebrates sibling friendship. I was not wowed by it upon a first read-through, but the sweetness of the story grew on me after a few times through the book. I think younger readers will enjoy the idea of being up when the parents are asleep, and everybody can appreciate the illustrations with their beautiful muted coloring to simulate night time light.
