BUYING ADVISORY: EL, MS - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: LOW
The girls await the return of their father, who regales them each night with stories, especially of his youth in Old Jerusalem. Their favorite is of their grandfather – and of the last day he spent with his grandfather – a day spent together before Palestinians were driven out of Jerusalem.
Moushabeck’s story and framing are best for those familiar with Palestinian history – small children will have less context, which is why it might be of more interest to older classes, if they read it with a teacher’s direction.
