BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K, EL (K-3) - ADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
Ellie the littlest elephant had just learned to swim and was in a big hurry to get to the pool of water in the jungle. She ran through the jungle calling out to the other animals forgetting to be careful and listen. She knocked over and almost squished the chameleon, monkeys, mangoes, spider, butterflies, birds, and landed on a tiger’s tale. Ellie stopped just in time before she squashed a tiny mouse. Ellie apologized to everyone and said she would try to be more careful. Then Ellie invited everyone to come with her to the pool. Ellie needs to be more patient and careful with the other animals.
The Littlest Elephant is a charming story that teaches children to be more careful, patient, and think more of others around them. I enjoyed her whimsical illustrations depicting a lush and colorful jungle.
