Our school has almost nothing except a blackboard, some chairs, and a teacher. It is in the middle of nowhere. Today we are explorers and bring paper and pens to draw outside. The teacher points out a Brontosaurus. As we explore more we see a Triceratops, a Stegosaurus, a Triceratops, Pterodactyls, and a tyrannosaurus rex. On the way back to school we see other animals. As a little girl goes home she realizes that even though her school has nothing, it has a brontosaurus that’s as big as a mountain.
Drawing Outdoors has potential, but leaves the reader puzzling about the message of the story. It is too vague in conveying the message that any school with a dedicated teacher can take you on fantastical adventures and make school interesting.
