 Maria wanted more than a life as a quiet homemaker on her island of Nantucket. Her astronomer father shared is love for the stars and his skills with her. She tried several ways to make a living, but once she discovered a new comet, more doors were opened to her – at least as wide as the doors would open for a woman of the 1800’s. 

A nice picture book biography – perfectly on point for its intended audience. Women in science are still an important subject that needs more entries. The only thing it is missing is a timeline.
