BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
Tameika is trying hard to be a good big sister to twins, but when everything seems to go wrong the night of a big ball, she has to learn to not be selfish.
The Cinderella connections are less important than Tameika learning early to enjoy her siblings. I get the feeling that she will still have her difficulties, but Tameika will still keep trying. Tamieka’s family is Black – I love seeing fairy tale themes being applied to a wider, not just white, world. I don’t see this as a tour de force, but a quiet secondary read.
