Juniper the badger is excited – this is the first year she feels ready to join the musicians who will play the first notes of spring. Her loud, exuberant drum beats doesn’t seem to fit with the light, graceful notes of the others and she is turned away. Then she finds others who also are loud percussionists. When the two groups get together, they realize that they really can work together – beats and notes in harmony.
A very fun, ebullient book about literally marching to the beat of your own drummer, but then seeing you can work together too. Bright, cheerful illustration strike just the right tone for a read aloud or to support a percussion lesson.
