BUYING ADVISORY: EL – OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: LOW
Paul and a family friend, Bruce, are going on a long-awaited backcountry skiing trip. During their trip, danger arises and it is up to Paul to get help and save the day. Can they both survive the wild?
What an odd little book. The behind-the-scenes blurb at the back explained that the pictures came first, and the story came second. For me, that was why the story felt disjointed and incomplete at moments. The visuals were very interesting from a design point of view, but the overall story was lacking. This might not be a book a child would read on their own but might serve as a good supplement to Hatchet by Gary Paulsen or something along those lines.
