AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH

If you were going to make a bird you would need a lot of very light, small, hollow bones so the bird would not be heavy. Then you would need feathers for warmth and feathers for flying. Birds need sharp eyes to see with, and strong claws. But can you really build a real bird? Birdwatching is fun and when the birds come really close to you it is like a special treat. Birds are fascinating and fun.

Ottley's illustrations are beautiful. The pictures look like photos! Read this your child, or your students and hear all that the children have to say about birds, and birds they have seen. A delightful book. I highly recommend it.
