Dr. Ick and Sam the dog teach all about nocturnal animals. There are both photos and illustrations as readers learn about vampire bats, flying squirrels, pangolins, and more. Dr. Ick introduces the deathstalker scorpion with its deadly sting, the Tasmanian devil with its bone-crushing bite, and the flying squirrel who is more cute than deadly.
Some words are defined in-text and some are included in the glossary. I'm excited to recommend this level two Ready-to-Read book to some of my animal-loving students. There is an activity at the end to create a flying squirrel glider (paper airplane). Dr. Ick has brown skin.
