It's Rock Your Mocs Day, and Indigenous Nations are celebrating by wearing their moccasins. Different nations use different words to express their styles, designs, or what they are made from, and children honor their cultures in various ways.
I loved so many things about this wonderful picture book. The children wore modern clothing - sweats, shorts, hoodies and were participating in things like skateboarding, playing in the park, walk to school. And, there were nods to their cultural traditions as well. A perfect blend of today and connections to their past with the moccasins. The illustration and the text identify many different Native and First Nation cultures. Includes author notes with more information about Rock Your Mocs Day, Moccasins, and Indigenous Children.
