Worm and Caterpillar are friends. They are different in some ways - what they eat and how they look, but they are the same - both are afraid of birds. Worms hopes Caterpillar stays just the same, worm is in for a surprise. When Caterpillar changes in to a pupa, both worm and caterpillar wonder if their friendship can endure the change.
Oh - I was so surprised by this story and enchanted! I loved it! What I thought would be a friendship story was also a great depiction of the science of both worms and caterpillars and butterflies. Highly recommend. Windness' illustrations are fantastic!
