Earth School (Marshmallow Martians book 2) by Deanna Kent, illustrated by Neil Hooson, 60 pages. GRAPHIC NOVEL Random House, 2023. $11. 9780593566107
BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - ADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
When the Marshmallow Martians want to learn more about earth bugs, the portal sends them to a school that is hosting an entomologist visit. But in Snug's excitement, she releases the bugs from the display and causes quite a problem. Good thing the kids are helping get the bugs back, because the Martians also want to learn about lunch. And, escaped ants really like lunch.
I suppose readers will find Earth School exciting, but I didn't love bugs exploding out of the band instruments and the science experiments. I hope the Marshmallow martians don't visit my school - they sure caused a lot of trouble at this one. Each episode contains a butt joke - there was one in the last book as well.
