BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K, EL (K-3) - ESSENTIAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
What would you do if you were a horse? A girl imagines the things that she would do if she were a horse. She would gallop all day and only come home when she was hungry. Life would be good if she was a horse.
I never knew a horse could have so many facial expressions! Young horse lovers will adore this book. Simple text and Blackall's illustrative style are combined beautifully. (There is a reason she has 2 Caldecott medals.) I love that the background characters are depicted with diverse abilities, body types, and ethnicities. The main character and her family are ethnically ambiguous with black hair and almond-shaped eyes.
