When Marie was fourteen years old, she left
her home in Austria to marry the fifteen year old French prince, Louis. Four years later, Louis was made king and
Marie his queen. They lived a life of
extreme luxury while the French people starved.
A revolution happened in which the monarchs were blamed for the country’s
poverty. Eventually, Marie and Louis
were executed.
This is a short and
succinct history of Marie Antoinette’s life.
The illustrations are cartoon-ish and there is a timeline, list of main
historical figures and a few extra interesting facts included at the end. This book is a great introduction to Marie
Antoinette and I think the mini size and cute character on the front
cover will appeal to readers, but they are overpriced at $15 for the amount of information
and quality of graphics.
