Baby Frank comes up with an unconventional plan to get the pet his parents refuse to buy him. When his mom is distracted at the bank, Frank gets to work dodging cameras and guards and laser beams to stuff his onesie with money and escape. Once home, he buys animal after animal online. When he can no longer hide them anymore, his parents help him open a zoo to earn back the money he owes the bank.
The illustration style feels very mid-century modern, although I was disappointed that that style didn’t extend to the furniture or clothing depicted. The story is cute and has just the right amount of charm. I was not thrilled that the mom depicted always had a scowl or looked completely run over with exhaustion.
