It’s first grader Rostam’s first picture day in America! His father, who is still working in Iran wants Rostam to wear the same pusteen that he wore to school, but Rostam is worried that the other kids won’t understand.
I love that this picture book is based on the author’s own father’s experience with wearing his pusteen to school picture day! We needed a book that shows that kids can be welcoming and open to new cultures and experience - not always mean and prejudiced. The illustrations show a wide variety of kids in the class, though the illustrations themselves are ok , not beautiful.
