The girl has come to live in a big, bright house with some other children who are also away from their families. As some of them leave, with their family or into new families, and new kids arrive, the girl is worried that she will never find a place of her own to belong. But through it all, her “Aunty” Rae is there to love and encourage her.
Whitbeard has given us a look into her own story of fostering and adoption, with happy, colorful illustrations from Wright as a supporting cast. I love their work to show that fostering can be a happy time, even though the children are coming into it from a place of pain.
