Farmer Eva farms a small field between the ocean and the forest in Massachusetts. She can smell the ocean and she can smell the forest. In her small garden she grows herbs, and lots of vegetables. Because she cannot eat it all herself, she shares it with friends and neighbors. Then she starts selling extras to restaurants and markets in the small town. Everyone wants some of Eva’s excellent produce. Eva learned all she could about gardening, she even learned about the critters in the soil that help aerate and fertilize her soil.

What a great book! The text is in verse and it is an easy and pleasant read. In the back there is information on the author and illustrator and many resources on how to make good garden soil. It is a delightful and very impressive book. I highly recommend it.
