Mabel, a young fox, always gets what she wants. One day she sees a ball by a bush and wants it. When she gets there, Chester rabbit thanks her for finding his ball and Mabel makes her first friend. Mabel Wants a Friend is a cute, humorous story about learning to be a friend, and how it takes more than just wanting one. I also enjoyed Rosenthal's simple and expressive illustrations.
