Four babies arrive on an island at the same time in different ways. One child came by air, twins by ferry, and one child appeared on a pile of nets. No one in the town knew what to do with them. The librarian named Eleanor Book decided to take them in, and raised them in the library where she lived. Everyone in the town helped teach the children, and accepted them. Children began asking them why they didn’t look anything alike, and why they lived in the library, and where they were from. Eleanor told them where they came from, and told them they were a set of Books (their last name), and the library was where they lived, and the island is where they belong.
When the Babies Come to Stay is very creative, and a wonderful story. It shows a town pitching in together to take care of the sweet children. It shows that all children are wanted, even if their biological parents gave them up for whatever reason. The artistry is wonderful. When the Babies Come to Stay is a book that is very enjoyable to read to young children.
