AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH

Ty's class assignment is to come up with an act of kindness and do a recitation on it in front of the entire class. He is nervous about it, but really shouldn’t be because being kind is something he is naturally good at already. He focuses on obtaining a pet for his baby sister as his act of kindness. His parents do not let up and they do not allow a pet for a baby. In the end, his sister points out that he has done acts of kindness the whole week, in things he didn’t even realize he was doing, because he is just a kind person. Because he decides that random acts do not count, he ends up purposely doing something for his mother. He makes dinner and cleans up for her so that she can relax. His recitation goes well.

The Life of Ty, Non-Random Acts of Kindness was full of positivity and very relatable for a child 7-9 years old. The boy is quirky, but extremely kind. He shows examples throughout the book of how to be a genuinely kind person all the time. I think The Life of Ty, Non-Random Acts of Kindness is a book a young child would enjoy, and parents would feel completely comfortable with their kids having this sort of influence on their children.
