Nana Nina lives in Chile. She loves to knit socks so much that she opens a sock shop. Nana Nina has a giant sock that she adds a row to every time a pair of socks is purchased. Before you know it, Nana Nina has a world record. Except, when the story hits the news, she has competition. Lumberjack Chuck from around the world has also been knitting one long sock. He demands the record and sets off a knitting competition like no other.
"The World's Longest Sock" has delightful illustrations that depict the two cultures in distinctive ways. The fun of the competition is shown, as is the consequence of a competition taken too far. Children will cheer during the race and celebrate a true win-win conclusion. Nana Nina and her community are Chilean. Lumberjack Chuck appears to live in a European or Scandinavian setting.
