As a young girl of a wealthy English family, Florence Nightingale never wanted to be a proper lady. As a teen, she decided she wanted to be a nurse. Her parents tried to talk her out of it but she persisted. Florence went on to save many lives and influence modern nursing.
I enjoyed learning facts that I didn't know about Florence Nightingale. I was inspired by her perseverance and I think that students will be inspired as well. This book is part of a great series of shorter biographies about famous women. Florence is white.
