A young dog, Tatertoes, wants to visit his mother, so he sets off with his smart best buddy, Mr. Schnozzer. On their way to Buzzard's Breath, they must travel through the woods where they meet up with everything from quicksand, bees, bears, and some fairytale characters.
The artwork is charming and colorful and the panels are big enough to appeal to young children. Kids will feel superior to Tatertoes' cluelessness and find his antics funny, and the fairytale references are a nice touch. Tatertoes and Mr. Schnozzer are canines.
