BUYING ADVISORY: Pre-K, EL (K-3), EL - ADVISABLE
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
Doris is a show horse. She has grown up performing and receiving applause. One night she grows curious about the outside world and goes out to do her own kind of dance. In doing so she learns to validate her own dancing without applause from others.
The illustrations of "Doris" are watercolors and create a dreamlike atmosphere. The horses are almost surrealistic, because although they are clearly horses, they are not accurate horses. Some children will like them, while others may not.
