It is intriguing to think about how ancient many of the drawings are and the purposes of the art that was drawn with minerals and other natural drawing tools. Salyer tells a thought-provoking and interesting story about our ancestors and their intriguing cave art. She also includes a world map of cave art, a timeline, and a glossary. Salyer's own art for the book is very striking using rich colored chalks and charcoal to duplicate the light and shadow found on the art in caves. I really enjoyed everything presented.
