Benita is trying to read a brand new book, but a series of night creatures try to scare her, to no avail as she is really into her book.
I love this story - what a fun answer to managing scary things at night. Totally sharing with my granddaughter. Includes Backmatter with more information about the creatures (who are from Peru, Bolivia and Chile). I especially loved the author's note about her own childhood night creatures. A great book - so much more to it than just a simple story. Benita is Peruvian
