In the forest live three friends, Rabbit, Duck, and Big Bear. They do everything together, except they never go down the long winding path together. Every summer they throw a party. Every autumn they throw leaves and play rough and tumble. In winter they sled and play in the snow. One day they go ice skating. Rabbit loses control and skates down the long winding path until he lands under a great fir tree. His friends find him and confess that they have each been there alone before, Rabbit is confused. He thought that they did everything together. Why did they go there without him?
Rabbit, Duck, and Big Bear is enjoyable to read. I related to the theme of how we all love doing things with others, but we also need time alone to refill the soul. Tallec's funny and whimsical illustrations greatly enhance the text.
