BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - ADVISABLE

When no one is buying, or even trying the gefilte fish in Shirley's parent's store, Shirley comes up with some great ideas to sell it, but everyone thinks she's too little. But, when a family emergency sends everyone away but Mrs. Gottlieb, Shirley is in charge of the store. She gives away gefilte fish with every order, and boy is she in trouble when her parents return!
What a darling story! The illustrations a reminiscent of the 1930s children's books and are marvelous. Includes a glossary with pronunciations of the Yiddish words in the story, a description of Gefilte fish and an authentic recipe to make it yourself at home. The family is Jewish.
