Josephine hated that hand-washing was ruining her fine china. She was determined to find a gentler way to clean her dishes, plus hopefully free herself from the wrinkled hands and the time commitment to handwashing. It took her more than a decade of experimentation, but she was able to patent her design and eventually find investors to bring her dream to life.
What an interesting look into the life of an unfamiliar inventor! Hannigan not only gives us a woman to emulate, but shows the highs and lows of the design and experimentation process – success does not come overnight!
