Moe is an elementary-aged girl who lives in a very diverse neighborhood on Wishbone Street. A new boy named Sami moves in from Syria. Moe wants to befriend Sami and share her love of birds with him. She discovers that Sami loves birds just as much as she does!
I really enjoyed this story! The message is that we can find similarities with anyone, even if they are from a different place. The illustrations are all polymer clay artwork made by the author/illustrator and they are so intriguing! This book would be great for a read-aloud for first through third grades. Mo is presumably white and Sami is Syrian. Many other cultures are represented in this book.
