From her childhood on a Montana ranch, Jeanette knew hard work. From her travels to San Francisco and New York, she saw the hardships of women and children. After tirelessly campaigning for women to be allowed to vote in Montana, she decided to take it a step further and run for Congress herself – and she won! She was the first woman to be elected to Congress.
Great back matter gives more details of Rankin’s life and work. An excellent choice for any picture book collection.
