Calvin has been in other foster homes, so this one, at first, doesn't seem much different. Calvin thinks no one wants him. But as he makes mistakes (breaking a vase, busting the bed) Maggie helps him breath to calm down and redirects until Calvin feels better. Maybe this isn't just another house - perhaps this is his home . . . for awhile.
Magination Press has books about everything - and a child in temporary care, one who is having a great experience, is a great topic. I love that there is always an author's note at the end - this time it's a link to their site with pages that can be printed out and used independently of the book - I like that. Beautiful illustrations and a wonderful message, not just for kids in foster care. Sharing this with my school psychologist.
