Roland is a bunny who lives alone and enjoys his quiet life. He likes to draw, listen to music and drink tea, but, he is lonely. One day, while taking a walk in the woods, he finds a pinecone with crafted eyes and arms. He takes it home and names it Milton. Milton likes all the things Roland does, and the two become best friends - for a few days, because on another walk in the woods, Roland sees signs taped on the trees. Someone is looking for pinecone named Popkin, and it looks just like Milton.
Salsbury has written and illustrated a lovely story. I loved quiet Roland and how he so quickly embraced a friend - albeit imaginary. The illustrations are a perfect pairing to the text.
