BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - ADVISABLE

AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE

Raj is a little tiger who is so excited to go camping with his dad. He has read all about it and has some great plans. After a long drive, they reach the campsite and set up their tent next to a huge one. Dad struggles to set up the tent, but refuses help from the Bear family (in the huge tent), and struggles to make breakfast on the camp stove, but declines the bear's offer to eat with them. But after a beautiful hike to the top of the mountain, and a surprise canoe trip, Raj's worst vacation ever turns into the best as dad finally accepts help from the Bears to avoid a dangerous situation.

Raj and his dad are so cute - how fun to see the first timers watch the experienced campers do things so easily. I love that Raj respected his dad's decisions to try to do things themselves. The illustrations are great, lots going on. This would be a great read before a family trip and to build excitement on the drive there.
