Young Jonas is headed to his grandmother’s farm with his Dad for the summer.  Each day he escapes into his imagination.  Tensions run high between Jonas and his Dad after Jonas is caught lying.  When he finds a magic portal, Jonas decides that this is an even better place for escape. The beautiful land on the other sides holds danger and delight - and Jonas has an important role to play.

The lush illustrations are sure to be a hit with graphic novel enthusiasts.  From this first book, I have no idea why the series is called Wormworld.  The story is slow to build so far.  I am curious how many books I am going to have to invest in before enough of the story builds to make it worth my while.  Also, graphic novels in paperback form are poor circulators for libraries. I’m not sure they are worth the price to buy them as rebounds, though.
