BUYING ADVISORY: EL (K-3) - OPTIONAL
AUDIENCE APPEAL: AVERAGE
Abner and Ian have been misplaced in the illustration and it's up to the reader to shake and jiggle the book to get everybody back where they belong.
Interactive books are all the rage today, and I was excited to see this 80 page picture book - so many opportunities! However, the text is more about the characters discussing their predicament that the reader manipulating the situation. The first shake happens well into the story, and that's about all the reader does. The illustrations are cute, and funny and the characters ending up all over the page (the one in the gutter is hilarious) is entertaining. All in all it's a pretty cute story, albeit some of the vocabulary is a bit advanced.
