AUDIENCE APPEAL: HIGH
This is a beautiful and large nonfiction picture book that highlights more than 40 dinosaurs. Each page has a large watercolor illustration of the dinosaur, size specifications, and some explanations on what we know about the dinosaur. There is also a fun introduction that goes over groups/families, diets, and an explanation of the different periods.
This book has become an instant hit in our household and I do not imagine my kids are that unique in this. The huge illustrations of dinosaurs make this a wonderful book for kids to explore through at any time--not just sit and read from cover to cover. I like the colorful illustrations (appropriate title) and especially appreciate the explanations on each page which often include info on why we believe a dinosaur looked or acted a certain way. Overall a big hit for anyone who is fascinated with dinosaurs--and who isn't?!
