We Are Many is a pretty simple story - a group of kids chase a soccer ball, pile onto the ball, more people join the pile and pretty soon what began as a pile of children becomes a mountain of people. A huge, towering people pile. Chaos and confusion ensue, until eventually the children are able to reclaim their game and play the way they like.
The illustrations are bold and colorful and feature an international cast of culture and color. The story was a little strange in my opinion. It seemed to be trying to teach the lesson that all are welcome, and that we should find ways to compromise and cooperate, but it came across as a silly, somewhat chaotic story to me. There's much to explore in the illustrations, and some kids may enjoy that. If you're reading it aloud, be prepared to hate the word "pile" as it's repeated more than 40 times throughout the book.
