Skeletina is a fearless little girl living in the "in-between world", a place where the dead and the living come together. The dead hang out there when they have unfinished business, and the living come there in their dreams when they're asleep. The book is full of interesting characters and concepts, and fantastic colorful illustrations. While there's a gentle spooky vibe going on because of the ghostly in-between world characters, this book is mostly about friendship, helping one another, and solving problems.
The concept and characters, as well as the fabulous illustrations, were my favorite things about this book. There's not much of a story in the traditional sense, though, so it's not as memorable as it could be. The endpapers are illustrated with additional in-between world characters (including their names and characteristics) that we don't get to meet in this story. This is the first book in a Skeletina series, so we'll presumably get to meet those additional characters in later books.
