Roy Thunder and his helicopter partner, Roto, are called into action to save the townspeople from flooding. A massive thunderstorm has caused flash flooding and citizens are in danger! Roto and Roy save a jack-knifed truck. They save a family trapped in a car. They help sandbag the rising river. Roto and Roy are heroes!
I liked the rhyme scheme. This would be a great read-aloud. I liked the large vocabulary of rescue vehicle parts. Teaching students words to name what they want to talk about is so important.
The town is depicted with a definite Southwestern setting. Characters with different skin tones are shown throughout the book, and Roy is African American.
