As tradition dictates for the holiday of Nowruz, the bathhouse is full! Three Iranian young boys are visiting the bathhouse because they want to be clean for the new holiday. Pretty soon though, they start to hear unusually loud noises. The loofahs are ripped and the pumice is broken. What could have done this, a monster? As they run to tell the adults about the monster, they discover what really made the mess.
I liked Merabian’s book because it teaches a little about the Iranian holiday, Nowruz. The bathhouse can seem like a scary place, but turns out to be a funny adventure for the boys. The pictures are engaging and make you want to turn the page.
