Tad’s father may have been the president of the United States, but the White House itself could not suppress his rambunctious side. Among his many tricks and games around the White House, Tad even made his father give Tad the turkey that was supposed to be their dinner on Thanksgiving. Tad also had a tender place in his heart for the men who were fighting during the Civil War.
Anderson says that this was supposed to be a book about the first pardoned turkey, but as she got to know Tad Lincoln, it became much more. You can definitely tell that this is a love letter to the relationship between Abraham and Tad.
