Four Ducks are tired of their small pond and set out for a big lake. Eric lets the other three know that he is worried about the monster in the lake. The other three laugh and tell him that there is no monster in the lake. Eric is still worried, but he reluctantly follows his friends into the lake. Eric sees something in the water and yells "Monster!". The other ducks think he is just joking and keep swimming. All of a sudden, the three ducks realize that Eric has disappeared. They begin to panic. What has happened to Eric?
The Monster in the Lake is very enjoyable, and will resonate with anyone who has nervously dipped a toe in unknown waters. I was fascinated with Timmers' fishy mechanical illustrations in this wonderful underwater adventure.
