Henry knows that it is just a drill, but for him every lockdown drill feels like the real thing, as his stomach gets twisted in knots. Even after the drill, Henry can’t bring himself to run and play like the other children. Together, he and his teacher work through some ways to help Henry find calm.
Lockdown drills really are the worst - but in the life of a small child it can be even worse. I love that Lucianovic and Grimard have given us a way to talk through the emotions that the drills stir up.
A lovely variety of ethnicities are displayed. The back matter includes some questions you can use with students to help them talk about their feelings.
