Troy is visiting his grandparents in Louisiana for the first time. He is excited, and a bit nervous, for his Grandpa to take him into the bayou. As they paddle around with Grandpa’s best friend, the men introduce Troy to the wonders and the history of the bayou.
SO many uses for Armand’s story - a bit biome, a bit Underground Railroad, lots of great bits of folklore and imagination. And I love how Harris incorporates all of these little bits into the illustrations. For any school near a bayou this is essential; others should include it as part of a trip around the US or for science or history.
